Chaaver Movie Online Review: Chaaver is a movie that stands out because of its unique making. Although it has a weak script, the film works because of its well-planned scenes and refreshing frames. It’s not a new story, but the presentation and the fantasy elements make it watchable.

However, the film is a bit slow in some places, and while the pacing works most of the time, that’s not always the case, especially during the climax sequence. The movie opens with a murder, which is mostly off-screen at that point. The culprits are led by Ashokan, played by Kunchacko Boban, who is a ruthless goon. We meet Arun, a medical student called to help tend to a wound of one of Boban’s accomplices, played by Arjun Ashokan. sustained during the murder.
Circumstances force Arun to travel with goons, and their journey forms the crux of the movie. The script by Joy Mathew throws light on political killings in the state, but it lacks levity due to the stretched-out second half, which was written rather weakly.
The attack and counter-attack sequence in the end is interesting, but the Theyyam aspect works visually and emotionally for someone aware of the culture, while it doesn’t add much to the film in general. The dog’s addition in some scenes serves as a symbolic representation, and it is later seen alongside a Theyyam, which brings an emotional connection. Antony Varghese, Sajin Gopu, Manoj KU, Joy Mathew, and Sangita played significant roles, even though Joy Mathew and Sangita had less screen space. There is a lengthy scene in which we see the funeral of the victim, and it perfectly portrays the sorrow caused by his death. Tinu Pappachan’s brilliance is evident in the ruthless murder scene as well.
The film also fails to do an in-depth analysis as one would expect from someone like Joy Mathew who has made his stand on such subjects clear in the past, and various facets of the issue were thus left unaddressed. Cinematographer Jinto George’s efforts must be mentioned as they saved the film to an extent. Justin Varghese did the music for the film.
That being said, it is essential to note that the movie is not for everyone, as some audiences may find it hard to understand the storyline. Also, the film has some violent scenes, so keep that in mind before watching it. Overall, the movie will give you a wonderful theatre experience, but it may not give you a complete movie experience.
