Cherai Beach in Kochi, Kerala is a well-known destination. Before my trip, I had researched extensively about the beach and was looking forward to visiting it. However, my experience turned out to be quite different from what I had expected. In this article, I will share my real experience of visiting Cherai Beach.
Travel Experience Cherai Beach Kochi
I started my journey from Coimbatore with my friends in a car at 2 p.m. If you are planning to travel from Coimbatore, I would recommend taking a car, but keep in mind that you will have to pay toll fees.
Within 40 minutes, we reached the Kerala border, and the natural scenery and the type of road confirmed that we had entered Kerala. Since it was the rainy season, we faced some difficulties due to the rain and Kerala’s narrow roads. However, we were fortunate to have started our journey by car and managed to avoid getting drenched.
After travelling for 4 hours, we arrived at Cherai Beach Road. Most of the roads were highways, but some were within the city, which made driving a bit challenging. If you plan on driving in Kerala, be extra cautious on city roads.
Experience
We didn’t pre-book any rooms, so it was challenging to find affordable accommodations. It took us roughly 45 minutes to locate a budget-friendly option, but we eventually found a room near the beach. If you plan on staying overnight in Cherai, it’s recommended that you book your room in advance.
After enjoying a beautiful sunset, we had some fun with our friends and prepared for a party night. Unfortunately, the rain prevented us from experiencing the beach’s nightlife fully. Additionally, we missed the sunrise due to a hangover. Finding a budget-friendly breakfast nearby was also a challenge, so we opted for street food.
Disappointment
The biggest letdown of our trip was not being able to access the beach due to the water level and rainy season. However, we did manage to find a small space where we could enjoy the waves and search for crabs in the sand. This unique experience was different from what I had read about Cherai online. We also explored other spots in Kochi, which I will share in upcoming blogs.
