Tips for an Athirappilly Kerala Trip: Athirappilly, located in Kerala, is a popular tourist destination known for its scenic beauty. I am sharing some tips based on my experience for those planning a trip to Athirappilly, Kerala.
Tips for an Athirappilly Kerala Trip
Avoid visiting during the rainy season
Athirappilly Waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in India, and water flows heavily at all times. Kerala is a rainy state, and during the rainy season, the water level in the falls is too high. Therefore, it is best to avoid the rainy season for a better experience. July to November is the rainy season in Kerala, so avoid visiting during this time.
Be careful while driving
Most of the roads leading to Athirappilly go through hilly areas, which have many blind spots. Hence, it is essential to drive carefully in those areas. If you are planning to visit from Tamil Nadu or another state, the route from Valparai and Anamalai is prone to landslides, and you may find animals crossing, including elephants and deer. Therefore, keep your eyes on both sides during your trip. Horn on blind spots.
Choose a good resort or hotel
If you plan to stay near the falls, choose a good resort or hotel. The area has highly-rated resorts and hotels, so it is best to verify the ratings on Google My Business Listings before making a booking. Some resorts even offer views of wild animals. Don’t forget to pre-book your resort for a smooth trip.
Keep cash handy
During my visit to Athirapilly, I experienced an internet issue, so it is better to carry cash since online payments are not available in many stores, and there is no internet in some areas.
Entry fee and parking
To enter the falls, you need to pay an entry fee of 50 Rupees per person, so keep cash handy to avoid any inconvenience. You can deposit your belongings in the storage room for 10 Rupees per item. You can park your vehicle free of cost, but if you visit with four vehicles, you need to pay for parking.
Prepare to walk some distance
From the parking area, you will need to walk some distance to explore the view of the waterfall. The walking path is steep in some places, so walk carefully. You may spot some monkeys on the way, so be careful while carrying snacks. Do not throw plastic waste in the forest area.
Be safe near the falls and water zone
Athirappilly Waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala, and the water flow is too high in that area. Be careful while you play in the falls and water and do not go to the danger zone covered with yellow rope. Keep your kids safe in that area, and be careful with your expensive belongings while entering the water. Bring your camera to take mind-blowing photos, and be careful while taking selfies with the falls. Explore More tourist attraction Content with Me.
