The Poco X6 Pro, a new addition to Poco’s lineup, has created quite a buzz in the mid-range smartphone market. Priced at Rs. 26,999 for the base model and Rs. 28,999 for the higher-end variant, this phone offers features usually found in more expensive models. I’ve been using the Poco X6 Pro for over a week now, and here’s my take on it.
Poco X6 Pro Overview
Design and Build
The phone boasts an elegant design, with a glossy plastic back that mimics the look of glass and a flat plastic frame that feels premium. The Racing Grey colour variant, which I tested, is particularly attractive. The device has a substantial weight, a curved back, and rounded edges for a comfortable grip. The rectangular camera module on the rear panel houses three cameras and an LED flash. The Poco X6 Pro is available in three colours – Poco Yellow with a vegan leather finish, Racing Grey, and Spectre Black.
In the box, you get a silicone case, SIM ejector tool, paperwork, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, and a fast 67W charger. The phone also comes with a pre-applied screen protector.
Specifications and Software
The Poco X6 Pro is powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra SoC, with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. While the phone doesn’t support expandable storage, it does offer a virtual RAM boost feature. The device supports dual 5G standby, features a USB Type-C 2.0 port, and comes with Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and various GPS connectivity options. The phone’s 5,000mAh battery performs well, and the 67W fast charger impressively takes it from 6% to 100% in just 47 minutes.
Running on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS based on Android 14, the Poco X6 Pro promises three years of OS updates and four years of security updates. The software provides a new control centre, customizable lock screen, AI object detection, hidden apps, new fingerprint animations, and more. However, some pre-installed apps cannot be removed.
Performance
The Poco X6 Pro excels in performance, thanks to the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra. It outperforms even more expensive models in benchmark tests. The phone is a gaming powerhouse, featuring WildBoost Optimization 2.0 and a 5,000mm square liquid vapor chamber to prevent overheating. The 120Hz AMOLED display with HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision support enhances the gaming and viewing experience.
The phone’s dual stereo speakers deliver good audio quality, and there’s minimal lag or stuttering during general use or intensive gaming. The device remains cool even during extended gaming sessions.
Cameras
While the camera performance isn’t the strongest suit of the Poco X6 Pro, it still delivers decent results. The primary 64-megapixel camera captures detailed photos, especially in daylight. The ultrawide and macro sensors provide versatility, but the results may not be groundbreaking. The 16-megapixel front camera does a decent job for selfies and video calling.
Verdict
In conclusion, the Poco X6 Pro is a midrange powerhouse offering excellent performance, a stunning display, and good battery life. Priced under Rs. 30,000, it competes well with other models in its category. If you’re looking for a reliable smartphone with gaming capabilities, a vibrant display, and decent cameras, the Poco X6 Pro is a solid choice. Despite some camera limitations and the presence of pre-installed apps, it stands out in the mid-range segment. I would recommend it over alternatives like the Oppo Reno 11 Pro and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+.
