Telugu actor Prabhas is set to mesmerize his fans with his upcoming film “Salaar: Cease Fire – Part 1”, which is due to release on December 22. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, “Salaar” has already made an impressive Rs 3.58 crore through bookings, selling over 150,000 tickets. The film has generated a lot of buzz among the audience ever since its announcement, and the overwhelming response to its bookings has only added to the excitement.
Out of the 150,000 tickets sold, a massive 84,000 tickets were sold in the Telugu-speaking regions, followed by over 42,000 tickets in the Malayalam-speaking areas. In the Hindi-speaking regions, “Salaar” secured more than 18,000 bookings. This shows the enormous popularity that Prabhas enjoys among people from different regions and languages.
However, the film will face tough competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited “Dunki”, which is set to release on December 21. The competition is evident in their booking collections, with the SRK-starrer leading the way with Rs 4.46 crore in bookings. Both movies opened their bookings on December 15, and the response to “Dunkirk’s” bookings has been equally impressive.
Shah Rukh Khan’s recent successes with “Jawan” and “Pathaan” give “Dunki” an edge, making it a formidable contender against Prabhas’s “Salaar”. The two movies are expected to give each other tough competition at the box office.
Directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films, “Salaar” boasts of a stellar cast, including Prabhas Raju Uppalapati, Shruthi Haasan, and Madhu Guruswamy in pivotal roles. The movie has been in the making for quite some time, and its trailer has already created a lot of excitement among the audience.
Earlier, “Salaar” producer Vijay Kirgandur discussed the clash with “Dunki” in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. He mentioned that the team does not want things to be “ugly” and is actively engaging with exhibitors and distributors to ensure a smooth release for both movies.
“When we have a solo release, the occupancy generally will be around 60-70%. Some screens will go to “Aquaman,” but between “Salaar” and “Dunki,” we hope to get 50-50 screens in the best scenario. In such a scenario if an occupancy of 90-100% is achieved, it’ll be a good result for both films,” he said.
It remains to be seen which movie will emerge as the winner at the box office. But one thing is for sure, both “Salaar” and “Dunki” are bound to give the audience a memorable cinematic experience.
